As soon as the coronavirus broke out in India and England, drastic steps were taken by the cricket boards of different counties and the entire international cricket was put on hold keeping in mind the gravity of the situation.

There were quite a few interesting series which were lined-up in the month of March ahead of the IPL, but none of them could take place eventually and the teams which had traveled overseas to play the series had to return back home as the international borders got sealed in most parts of the world.

Here are the 3 mouth-watering series fans could not witness due to corona:

India vs South Africa

South Africa had to play a series of 3 ODIs in India and both teams even reached Dharamsala to play the first match. However, not a ball could be delivered in that match because of rain.

A couple of days later, Cricket South Africa (CSA) requested BCCI to cancel the series for the time being and re-schedule it later so that the South African players could return home. BCCI accepted the request and the series got postponed.

The South African players, once they got back home, had to keep themselves in self-isolation for a period of two weeks.

Sri Lanka vs England

This was a highly anticipated 3-match Test series as England had managed to whitewash Sri Lanka in their own backyard when they had played a Test series in Sri Lanka a couple of years back.

Sri Lanka, under the new coaching staff, was keen on revenge. England was high on confidence as a test team as well, having recently won a test series in South Africa.

It had all the making of a cracking test series; however, it was also canceled without a ball being bowled as the English players made their way back to the UK.

Australia vs New Zealand

Three ‘High-Voltage’ Series We Have Missed Due To Coronavirus

It was a 3-match ODI series that started amid the coronavirus breakout. The first match was played behind the closed doors, however after a couple of players caught a common cold, the series was canceled.

The players, who had caught a common cold, eventually tested negative for coronavirus.

It has not been clarified yet by Cricket Australia (CA) if this series would be rescheduled at some point in time or if it has been canceled altogether.

The chances of the re-scheduling of the series are not very high as the Australian cricket calendar will be packed once the lockdown is lifted.
