Three Players That BCCI Can Still Include In The Indian World Cup Squad

Probable modifications to the Indian squad: Going by the latest timeline provided by ICC, 10th October will be the last day on which any given team can make a necessary change to their announced side for the upcoming world cup. Though this is a rare spectacle, however, changes do happen.

India has also announced their full squad and it is highly unlikely that they would be incorporating any kind of changes to their squad. However, given the ongoing IPL, a few players have begged the questions of racking up a spot in the national team.

Though it seems obvious, yet in this story, we will be taking a look at three cricketers who have dished out impeccable performances in the second phase of the tournament and can be a name on the cards if BCCI does the unthinkable.

#1 Shikhar Dhawan

Knowing the fact that Dhawan preserves his best for the ICC tournaments and the recent showdowns that he has conjured in the second phase which include the likes of 42, 24 and 39 will beg the question that did India pulled off the right move by dropping Dhawan? Of course, India has two of its best openers bracing themselves to fare in the biennial extravaganza. However, with the inclusion of Dhawan, maybe things could have seemed a bit better on the reserve front in case of any injury to the best.

#2 Mayank Agarwal

Surprisingly, Mayank Agarwal has been living the form of his life as he has been at the top of his performances in the second phase of IPL 2021. Of course, one may argue that he has never been good for India away from home. However, cricket is not based on history. It is defined by the current sequence of events that unfolds. Agarwal has hammered a quickfire 40, a blistering 67 and an excellent 57 after the tournament resumed. He is an aggressive striker of the ball and can get India off to a flyer if he gets going.

#3 Yuzvendra Chahal

Despite being sloppy in the opening half of the tournament and against Sri Lanka, Chahal has bounced back strongly since the resumption of the tournament. He has claimed 10 wickets in the last five matches in the ongoing IPL. Given the slow pitches of UAE, it makes life easy for the spinners. Chahal is an experienced customer who can turn the ball by a good deal. He is also mysterious in the UAE conditions, given the bigger boundaries and a variegated arsenal. He has a strong knack for wickets and can wreak serious havoc in the middle-overs.
