3 Most Exciting Cricket Series We Are Looking Forward To In 2020: In 2019, the cricket fans witnessed some really good series that went down to the wire. The year started with the Indian team creating history Down Under as they defeated the Australians in Australia for the first time. The India-Australia ODI series was a fantastic one as it went into the decider.

The World Cup was followed by the Ashes which ended in a draw as both the teams won two games each. The Ashes was the start of the World Test Championship which gave new life to Test cricket. With points up for grabs in every game, even the dead rubbers become important.

Just like 2019, there are few very good series lined up for this year. 2019 was just a trailer and the actual picture might as well start now. So, on that note let’s have a look at the top three series to look forward in 2020.

  1. New Zealand vs India in New Zealand

After the T20I series against Sri Lanka and the ODI series against Australia, the Indian team will travel to New Zealand for a full series which will include all the three formats. The series will start with five T20Is which will be seen as a build-up to the T20 World later this year.

India and New Zealand are ranked close to each other in the shortest format and so it will be a battle to watch out for. Between the shortest and the longest format, there will be a three-match ODI series that would make things interesting and then there will be a couple of Test matches.

India will be playing Test matches in New Zealand after a very long time. Both the teams have very good bowling line-ups and some good batsmen as well. If there is something in for the bowlers then it will be a Test series that can’t be missed.

  1. Australia vs South Africa in South Africa

We all know what happened when these two teams last met in South Africa. Yes, there was some fantastic cricket as well but nobody will remember that. Everybody will remember the ball-tampering incident which led to a huge controversy in the cricketing circles and the Australian Cricket Team.

Even though this series doesn’t comprise of Test matches, Steve Smith and David Warner will visit South Africa for the first time after the unfortunate incident. Australia will play three T20Is and three ODIs later this year when they go to South Africa.

South Africa might be on a downfall but with the new management in place, they will not easily give up especially against a team like Australia so it will be a series to watch out for.

  1. Australia vs India in Australia

Sourav Ganguly in a recent interview mentioned that it won’t be easy to defeat Australia on this occasion and he was bang-on with his assessment. As a part of the WTC, India travels to Australia to play four Test matches in December this year.

India might have won the series last time but with the arrival of Steve Smith and David Warner, it is not going to be easy for the Indians. It will be a cracking contest when the two best bowling line-ups come in front of each other. Jasprit Bumrah will bowl to Steve Smith whereas Pat Cummins will bowl to Virat Kohli.

Tim Paine might be ready with his banter but Rishabh Pant as well won’t be quiet. It is still a long way away but as always there is a lot of excitement. It could be a series to remember for both the teams.
