Twitter went berserk last year when Suresh Raina returned to India even before the IPL kickstarted. Not only there were speculations that Raina returned due to scare of Covid, but a few people said that he was not really happy with the circumstances inside the bio-secure bubble.
However, the hearsay that caught the most predominant air of traction was the fact that Raina returned because he was not offered a room in the hotel with a balcony.
It was on Saturday against the Delhi Capitals that he made his return to the echelons of the Yellow Army. No one could have chronicled a better return to the ranks of Chennai than Suresh Raina as he clobbered a scintillating half-century on his return that provided the much-needed platform to Curran and Jadeja in the end to pen the blitzkreig that propelled CSK’s total to a staggering 188.
His 36-ball-54 was the highest score in the Chennai scorecard and that egged Twitteratti on to heap a sea of plaudits on the veteran southpaw.
Shortly after Raina started trending on Twitter for his exuberant knock, another man decided to pull his World Cup-winning teammate’s leg with a cheeky badinage.
Sehwag tweeted, “This is the difference. Jai Jai Balcony. Mazaak hai, jyada seriously mat lo. (It’s a joke, don’t take it seriously).”

Balcony or not, Raina will still be Chennai’s biggest hope in the ongoing edition of IPL.
