Tom Moody Revealed David Warner’s Reaction To SRH Captaincy Snub

Sunrisers Hyderabad made a bold decision to remove Australian cricketer David Warner as the skipper of the franchise. Warner was replaced by Kane Williamson, who has previously led the side during the 2018 and 2019 editions of the Indian Premier League.

The decision has come out as a shocker for fans as Warner has been a successful skipper of the team, having led the team to a title win in 2016’s edition of IPL, he had also been a regular run-getter for the team. However, in the ongoing season of the IPL, Warner was struggling with his form and the team is currently sitting at the bottom of the points table, having won only one game off the 7 games the team has played so far in the tournament.

Not just he was removed as a skipper but was also dropped from the playing XI of the team on Sunday in a match against Rajasthan Royals. Their director of cricket Tom Moody revealed that David Warner was “shocked” and “disappointed” on being told he would no longer captain of the side.

Moody also revealed that the decision was based on the combination of the players. He said:

“It means firstly that he’s not going to be playing, purely a decision based on combination. We’ve come to a conclusion that the two overseas batters, allrounder and Rashid Khan is the best combination. We’ve looked at it closely,”

He added:

“We had to make a hard call and someone had to miss out, and unfortunately for Davey, this time it’s him. He was obviously shocked and disappointed. And we’d be disappointed if he wasn’t feeling that way.

As it goes with elite sportsmen, they want to be playing and proving themselves and doing the best they can for the team. But he has come to terms with the logic behind what we are trying to achieve from a team’s perspective and has been terrific since. He has rallied around the team and, more importantly, the team has rallied around him.”
