The ‘Universal Boss’ Chris Gayle is regarded as one of the most destructive batsmen to have played the game. Playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2012 edition of the league, Chris Gayle registered 50+ scores 8 times. It was the same edition when Chris Gayle registered a massive 128* against Delhi Daredevils and became the first batsman to score 700 runs in a single season of the Indian Premier League. Besides this, Chris Gayle also surpassed his own record tally of 44 sixes in an IPL season by smashing 57 sixes in IPL 2012.
4. Kane Williamson – 8 (2018):
One of the coolest cricketers and amazing batsmen, Kane Williamson replaced David Warner as the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad. Under his leadership in that season, his team Sunrisers Hyderabad finished as runner-ups after MS Dhoni led Chennai Super Kings defeated them in the final showdown by 8 wickets. Kane Williamson won the Orange Cap for scoring the most runs, i.e, 735 runs in the 2018 IPL season, where he registered 50+ score 8 times.

David Warner has been one of the most prolific run-getters in the history of the Indian Premier League. There have been several occasions when David has single-handedly carried his side to victory. Currently, he is leading the list of most number of the fifties in all-time records with 44 fifties in 126 innings he has played. However, the most number of 50+ runs scored by him in a single season came during the 2016 edition of IPL, where he played for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
