After defeating the Lankans in the test series, team India has repeated the results in the ODI series. The ODI series started on a disastrous note for India as India lost miserably at Dharamshala but the Rohit Sharma led team bounced back strongly to win the next two games and hence the series.
After an insulting defeat at Dharamshala the men in blue were quick to take revenge. India defeated Sri Lanka in the second game at Mohali by a hefty margin of 141 and Vizag was then won by 8 wickets.
Here are the top performers:
1. Rohit Sharma
The opener had an added responsibility of captaining the side in the absence of Virat. After falling cheaply in Dharamshala, Rohit came back with a mammoth double ton at Mohali and made up for the failure in the first game. Rohit performed decently well on his captaining debut and got 217 runs from 3 games.
2.Shikhar Dhawan
He too fell cheaply at Dharamshala but then an impressive half century
at Mohali and a handsome ton at Vizag made up for it. Shikhar Dhawan’s Vizag innings in particular was splendid and he also completed 4000 ODI runs in the third game.
Shikhar Dhawan was adjudged the man of the series which his great knocks in the series.
3. Shreyas Iyer
The 23 year old youngster got his maiden cap in the first game but it turned out a nightmare. But in the second game he came up with a brilliant innings of 88 and then with a half century at Vizag too he proved his worth.
Shreyas Iyer took care of the crucial number 3 spot with great responsibility in the absence of Kohli.
4. Yuzvendra Chahal
The wrist spinner is weaving magic with his spin. Chahal didn’t get to bowl at Dharamshala but he picked up 3 wickets each in the next two games. Chahal ended the series as being the highest wicket taker in the series with 6 wickets coming to his kitty.
His economy was just 5.30 in the two innings and he helped India get all the important breakthroughs. Chahal has proved yet again that he has the caliber to turn around the game on its head.
5. Upul Tharanga

The Sri Lankan opener exhibited his experience like a boss. Tharanga played a knock of 49 in the first ODI and then got out for just 7 in the second game.
But in the third game he went on to score 95 with a handsome strike rate and showed great character and intent. Tharanga in the third ODI completed his 1000 ODI runs this year and was the best performer from the Lankan side in this series.
