India is a cricket fanatic nation and it will not be wrong to say that in India cricket is a religion. So many people in India aspire to play for the national team but eventually, it is just 11 who end up representing the nation.
But India also has a very big domestic circuit and performances of young talents here decide their future in the Indian cricket team. But there are some heroes of the domestic cricket circuit who earned themselves chances in the national team and could not make the most of it.
We bring you an account of 5 such heroes of India’s domestic cricket circuit who despite making it to the Indian team could not cement their place and finally saw themselves moving out of the team.

Manoj Tiwary
Manoj Tiwary is one of the most successful domestic cricket stars in India but he could not replicate that success in international cricket. Manoj Tiwary has 13822 First Class runs at a staggering average of 50.27 and this includes 24 centuries. This domestic star hails from West Bengal.
But Manoj Tiwary has only played 12 One Day Internationals and 3 T20 internationals for India. He has scored just 287 runs in ODIs and just 15 in T20s. Clearly, he has failed to replicate his domestic stardom in international cricket. He last played an ODI for India in 2015.
Vinay Kumar
The Karnataka Medium pacer has a whopping tally of 455 wickets in first-class cricket from just 123 matches. He is one of the most successful bowlers in India’s domestic cricket circle.
Vinay Kumar has played 31 One Day Internationals for India but could only manage 38 wickets. Even in T20 internationals, he has just 10 wickets from 9 games. He is another domestic cricket hero who failed to make it big at the international level.
Ambati Rayudu
An average of 45 in first-class cricket but he could never do that despite repeated chances in the Indian team. The Andhra Pradesh batsman could only manage 1055 runs from 34 One Day Internationals and in T20 internationals he could only manage 42 runs from 5 innings.
This is another failed story of a domestic cricket star who could not do much at the international level.
Dhawal Kulkarni
The Mumbai pacer has 250 wickets from 80 matches in first-class cricket and has been among wickets in the IPL too. But he could not do the same for India at the international level.
He played 12 ODIs for India and could only scalp 19 wickets while in T20s he could only manage 3 wickets from the 2 T20 internationals he played.
Wasim Jaffer
17824 runs in first-class cricket at a staggering average of almost 50. Wasim Jaffer has 52 centuries in first-class cricket with the highest score being 314* which is just unbelievable.
But playing for India he got just 1944 runs from 31 test matches and 10 runs from 2 ODIs. He is 39 but still continues to play. He was in news recently for not charging any fee to Vidarbha in the Ranji season that just concluded.
