This season pace bowlers have had a much larger impact than in the past few years. The pitches in Mumbai and Pune have been spicy – with a considerable amount of swing and seam movement available – and bowlers have also been smart in using the ground dimensions.

Umran Malik
Of all the uncapped Indian pacers, Umran Malik is now seemingly the closest to an India cap; there are even calls by fans and experts to groom him quickly and get him ready for the T20 World Cup.
Because Umran Malik has the kind of pace that no Indian bowler has displayed in the past couple of decades; he recently clocked the 154 KPH marker on the speedometer. Malik has taken 15 scalps so far – the joint third-highest – including a maiden five-wicket haul. He has also shown marked improvement in control of his lines and lengths.
Mukesh Choudhary
Albeit a bit too late, Chennai Super Kings found the powerplay specialist in Mukesh Choudhary in the absence of the injured Deepak Chahar. Left-arm seamer Mukesh Choudhary has a total of 11 wickets in 8 matches, with a best of a four-wicket haul recently against SRH.
Of those 11 wickets, 8 have come in the powerplay; only Mohammed Shami with 9 wickets has more than Mukesh in the first six overs. Choudhary, however, has been really expensive in the death, leaking at 15 runs an over in the last five overs.
Mohsin Khan
The inclusion of 23-year-old Mohsin Khan has allowed Lucknow Super Giants to play an extra overseas all-rounder instead of AJ Tye. A left-arm seamer, Mohsin has made quite good a use of his height and has nipped out 8 wickets in 4 matches at a brilliant economy of 6.07; his best of 4/16 came against a dynamic Delhi Capitals batting order.
Kuldeep Sen
Kuldeep Sen has been an ideal addition to the Rajasthan Royals bowling attack, the lanky seamer has been a superb foil to Trent Boult and Prasidh Krishna; RR’s bowling attack is a key reason for their strong upper table position.
Categorized as Right arm Fast, Kuldeep Sen has snared 8 wickets in 5 matches and although he’s been slightly on the expensive side, RR won’t mind that as batters have looked to target Sen as RR’s weaker link. He registered a best of 4/20 vs the power-packed RCB line-up.
Yash Dayal
Yash Dayal was impressive in the 4 games he has played so far, snapping up 7 wickets though going for runs, before being sidelined due to an injury. Dayal showcased a magnificent use of short ball versus the Kolkata Knight Riders when he dismissed Shreyas Iyer and Rinku Singh.
