Chris Morris, who was bought by the Rajasthan Royals for a record price of INR 16.25 crore, silenced his critics for his price tag by finishing things off in style to guide his team home, with two balls to spare in the game against Delhi Capitals last night.
In a low-scoring game, when Rajasthan Royals had lost all their hopes, it was the performance of Chris Morris that made all the difference.
Though initially, it looked like Delhi Capitals would win the game as RR was going nowhere close to the target. Chasing a target of 148 runs to win, Rajasthan Royals got off to the worst possible start, with almost half of their side back in the dugout with just 42 runs on the scoreboard. However, following David Miller’s dismissal, Morris took charge of the game and made full use of the opportunity provided to him.
Morris smashed two sixes in the penultimate over bowled by Kagiso Rabada, bring down the equation to 13 runs off the last six balls. Morris then cleared the fence twice in the final over bowled by Tom Curran to finish things off in style with a massive six to guide his team home.
Morris scored 36 runs off 18 balls, smashing 4 sixes in his sensational knock. The 4 sixes also included a class apart six, which was a no-look one.
After his match-winning cameo, Morris started trending on social media, with fans, cricketers, and experts hailing the South African all-rounder for justifying his price tag. There were many who came up with hilarious memes and jokes while reacting to the match-winning cameo of Chris.
