Brett Lee picks his best XI from T20 World Cup 2022, No Place For Australians
Legendary Australian World Cup-winning bowler Brett Lee has named his best XI from the recently-concluded T20 World Cup 2022. Jos Buttler-led England cricket team emerged as the World Champions as they defeated the Pakistan cricket team to lift the prestigious trophy of the World Cup. The performance of the English players was commendable throughout the tournament. English captain Jos Buttler scored the highest 225 runs for his team and Alex Hales smashed 212 runs to ensure the team's impressive start.
Meanwhile, the legendary pacer has picked four Indians, two Pakistanis, one New Zealander, and four English cricketers, however, no Australian player features in his best XI. He has picked Jos Buttler and Alex Hales as the openers of his side after their terrific performance in the T20 World Cup 2022.
Sam Curran, who won the Player of the Match award in the final and Player of the Tournament for taking 13 wickets from six innings, was also named in the best XI of Brett Lee. Adil Rashid could only pick up 4 wickets in the tournament however he was very impressive in his spells, especially in the semi-final and the final clash. He also found a place in the best XI of Brett Lee.
Talking about Indian players, Brett Lee picked Virat Kohli, who scored the highest 296 runs from just six innings with the help of four half-centuries, and Surykumar Yadav, who scored 239 runs at an unbelievable strike rate of 189.68. Lee also picked Arshdeep Singh and star all-rounder Hardik Pandya in his list. While Arshdeep grabbed 10 wickets and Hardik contributed with 128 runs and eight wickets.
Pakistan's Shaheen Afridi and all-rounder Shadab Khan are also part of Lee's best XI team. Both the players picked 11 wickets each to guide Pakistan to the final. Lee also included New Zealand's versatile batter Glenn Phillips, who smashed 201 runs from just five innings.
