Sachin Tendulkar Made A Powerful Statement On Arshdeep Singh

Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is the latest personality to come out and show firm support for youngster Arshdeep Singh after the Indian pacer was targeted by a section of people following the loss to Pakistan on Sunday in Dubai.

Arshdeep Singh had made a big error in the game when he dropped the catch of Pakistan batsman Asif Ali in the 18th over of Pakistan’s run-chase. Batting on zero, Asif mistimed his slog off Ravi Bishnoi’s bowling which went up in the air to present a simple catch to Arshdeep at short third-man, however, Arshdeep spilt the catch.

This blunder from the pacer proved match-turning as Asif smashed 16 runs off 8 balls, helping Pakistan clinch a 5-wicket win, chasing down 182 with one delivery left. After this, Arshdeep was subjected to plenty of trolling that turned ugly when a section of people - reportedly from Pakistan - started the trend of “Khalistan” on social media with their vile tweets.

After this, many Indian fans and ex-cricketers came out in support of Arshdeep; some such as Aakash Chopra even changed their Twitter profile picture to Arshdeep’s photo to encourage the rookie.

Now, the greatest of all Sachin Tendulkar has requested the fans to not attack sports people personally, and that mistakes are part of the game. He further encouraged Arshdeep to continue his hard work and shut down the trollers with excellent performance on the field.

“Every athlete representing the country gives their best and plays for the nation always. They need our constant support & remember, that in sports you win some & you lose some. Let’s keep cricket or any other sport free from personal attacks,” Sachin Tendulkar tweeted on Tuesday evening.

“@arshdeepsinghh keep working hard and give the best reply by performing on the field. I am keenly following you. My best wishes.”

Coming to the game, ignoring the dropped catch, Arshdeep Singh was brilliant once again with the ball; in fact, the 23-year-old was India's second-best bowler on the night after Ravi Bishnoi. Arshdeep returned with good figures of 1/27 from 3.5 overs - his economy of 7 was by far better than that of Chahal, Hardik Pandya and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, all three who leaked at 10 or more runs per over.

Arshdeep will get his shot at redemption on Tuesday evening when India take on Sri Lanka in what is almost a must-win game.
