BCCI president and former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly was all praises for Virat Kohli, who recently made a strong comeback and registered his 71st century after a long wait. Kohli was going through a dry run of form, however, he rediscovered his lost mojo during the ongoing 2022 edition of the Asia Cup, where he smashed his first century since November 2019.

Coming out to open the innings for the Indian side against Afghanistan, Virat played a blockbuster knock of 122* runs off 61 balls, including 12 fours and 6 sixes. Virat's century against Afghanistan was also his maiden ton in the shortest format of the game, with his last international hundred coming in a Test match against Bangladesh.

Meanwhile, speaking about the performance of Virat Kohli on the YouTube channel TRS Clips, Sourav Ganguly hailed Kohli with reference to his skillset. He also predicted that Virat will have more appearances than him at the end of his career. He said:

“The comparison should be in terms of skill as a player. I think he is more skilful than I’m. We played in different generations, and we played a lot of cricket. I played in my generation, and he will continue playing, probably playing more games than I did. At present moment, I have played more than what he has but he’ll get past that. He is tremendous,”

Before the commencement of Asia Cup 2022, Sourav Ganguly had predicted Kohli's return to form, claiming that a player of his calibre won't undergo such an extended lean patch. He said:

"He's a very big player, there for a long time. I know he has his own formula to score runs. It's not possible that players of his stature can't have such a long lean patch, I know he will definitely score runs. If he was not a great player, he would not have scored so many runs for so long,"

Further, during his interaction on TRS Clips, Ganguly also spoke about the new generation of cricketers playing more aggressively as compared to the previous players. Speaking about how the game has changed over the years, Ganguly said:

"Yeah, the game is different, the game is faster... shorter and faster, more sixes, more boundaries, not many deliveries left outside the off stump. So the game has changed,"

Ganguly was also asked about how the young players should handle the glitz and glamour of the modern-day cricket. Responding to the same, Ganguly advised players to focus and give their time to the game and the rest will follow
