The Indian cricket team has already kickstarted their preparations for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, which is slated to happen next year at home. As the countdown for the  2023 ODI World Cup has already started, former Indian skipper Sunil Gavaskar has sent a stern warning to the Indian team.

Ahead of the ODI series between India and Bangladesh, Sunil Gavaskar warned the senior Indian players and stated that if India wants to win the ODI World Cup, there should be no rest for them. He said:

“I hope there is not too much chopping and changing. I also hope there is not too much of giving a break now. Then the combination takes a long time to gel when you come into the World Cup. And then in World Cup, there is no matches where you can afford to lose. So it is very important that the core plays all matches. Yes there will be an odd player coming in somewhere when you need an extra bowler or a batter. But the core has to play every single one-day game. No rest. You are playing for India. No rest. You want to win the World Cup. And for that, you need that combination to be absolutely gelling every single game,”

He added, "So it is crucial that the core plays all matches. Yes, there will be an odd player coming in somewhere when you need an extra bowler or a batter. But the core has to play every single ODI. No rest. You are playing for India. No rest. If you want to win the World Cup. And for that, you need that combination to be absolutely gelling every single match."

More Or Less 80-90 Percent Of The Team Is Set": Rohit Sharma Open To Changes In Indian Team For T20 World Cup 2022

It has to be noted that the Indian side is not fielding their best Playing XI in all of the games they are taking part in. Ahead of the ODI series against Bangladesh, senior players like Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, R Ashwin, and others decided to skip the series and the playing combination was hampered. India's team management has come under the scanner because of its selection process.

In fact, ahead of the ongoing series against Bangladesh, Indian keeper-batter Rishabh Pant, who was a part of the Indian squad for the ongoing series, however, he was released from the squad moments before the series started due to an injury.
