Alastair Cook Gave A Big Compliment To Virat Kohli

Former England skipper Alastair Cook has been lauded for what all he has achieved as a Test captain after the latter stepped down from the position of Test captaincy of Indian Test captaincy. Virat Kohli, who had replaced MS Dhoni as India’s Test captain in 2014/2015, emerged out as the most successful Indian Test skipper.

During his captaincy tenure of 7 years, the Indian cricket team reached new heights and became the number 1 Test team in the world. Virat Kohli transformed the environment of the team and made the Indian Test side a mighty force in world cricket. He has always been very passionate about Test cricket and the same was very evident from the results.

Alastair Cook Gave A Big Compliment To Virat Kohli

Earlier last year, Virat was replaced by Rohit Sharma as the white-ball captain of the Indian Cricket Team. However, nobody was expecting him to quit Test captaincy at this time and this is the reason why his sudden announcement sent shockwaves across the cricketing world.

Meanwhile, Hailing the brilliance and legacy of Virat as a Test captain, Alastair cook paid an emotional tribute. In his column for The Times, Alastair Cook agreed with Virat’s statement of a Test captain needing plenty of patience and hard work. He also hailed Virat for doing a spectacular job as India’s red-ball skipper and building the team a mighty force. He wrote:

“Kohli was right that being a Test captain requires hard work and perseverance and yes he took his team to the number one spot. The improvement in the performance is down to the hard edge he instilled. If ever a team was shaped in the mould of their captain, it is this team,”
