The news of Shane Warne’s death has left the cricket fraternity in shock. The leg-spinner passed away aged 52 in Thailand because of a suspected heart attack. Tributes and anecdotes are pouring in for the Australian bowling maestro from all corners of the world.

From cricketers, experts and fans, everyone is pouring out their emotions on social media to express their grief on the passing away of the legendary cricketer. As tributes flow in for the legendary Aussie cricketer, Indian spin legend Anil Kumble revealed a secret about Warne.

Well, while speaking on Star Sports, Anil Kumble revealed that the Australian players never used to go after a player if he was a friend of Warne. He said that whenever he walked out to bat, the Australian side didn’t indulge in any sort of banter with him as he was a good friend of Warne. He revealed:

“There was this secret, an untold secret about the Australian team, that they will not go after a cricketer if you are friends with Shane Warne. So when you went out to bat, and if you were friends with Warne, you didn’t get any banter from the Aussies. So when I went to bat, Aussies didn’t need to do any banter to unsettle me. That was Warnie, that was how he looked after his friends,”

Anil Kumble Revealed An Untold Secret About Shane Warne

Recalling his battles with Shane Warne, Kumble stated that Shane Warne’s greatness magnifies further as he always played well against the Indian cricket team. He said:

“His greatness magnifies because he played really well against India. He wanted to do really well against us because we were good players of spin. There was this series in 1998 where everybody was speaking about ‘Sachin vs Warne’. Warne got the better of him in the first innings, and then Sachin got the better of him in the second,”

Meanwhile, Warne’s body is set to be flown back to Australia from Thailand. The Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison announced that the cricketing legend will be given a state funeral.
