Players of Chennai Super Kings are sweating it out ahead of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League, which is just around the corner. The MS Dhoni-led side would be looking for a change in fortunes in IPL 2021 after a disappointing show in the previous season.
However, ahead of the IPL 2021, the team is currently worried about the availability of one of their star player – Ravindra Jadeja.
The Indian all-rounder is racing against time to get fit and fine for the mega tournament that will kickstart from April 9. He is currently recovering from thumb surgery and is yet to join the Chennai Super Kings training camp.
Recently, in an interview, CSK’s CEO Viswanath revealed that the team has no idea about the fitness of Jadeja and when will he join the camp. He said:
“We really don’t know when Jadeja is joining us. He has to get released by the National Cricket Academy (NCA),”
CSK will shift to Mumbai’s Trident hotel on March 26 to enter the bio-secure bubble ahead of IPL 2021. However, some players have already reached Mumbai and have already quarantined themselves. Cheteshwar Pujara, and head coach Stephen Fleming have already reached Mumbai.
“Stephen and Pujara have reached Mumbai along with some other players. We will begin our camp there on March 27-28,” Viswanath said.
Meanwhile, CSK was the first team to begin preparations for IPL 2021. MS Dhoni, Ambati Rayudu, and India’s domestic players such as N Jagadeeshan and Ruturaj Gaikwad joined their camp at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
However, CSK’s star performer Suresh Raina, who pulled out of IPL 2020 citing personal reasons, is yet to join the team. Viswanath revealed that Raina will be joining the team directly in Mumbai.
