India’s Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane continued with his poor form on Day 4 of the ongoing 4th Test match against England at The Oval. Ever since the ongoing 5-match Test series kickstarted, there have been questions raised over the form of Rahane. He has found himself under scrutiny once again due to his inconsistent form and poor performance.
On Day 4 of the 4th Test match, Rahane walked out to bat at number 6 after the dismissal of Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravindra Jadeja and joined Virat Kohli in the middle. However, the vice-captain failed miserably and was dismissed by Chris Woakes.
England bowler Chris Woakes has been absolutely amazing in the ongoing series at The Oval. On Day 4, Chris brought his team back into the game single-handedly by picking some crucial wickets. He attacked India with two quick strikes in the first session, sending Ravindra Jadeja and Ajinkya Rahane back to the pavilion.
Rahane in fact departed for a duck. It was a perfect set-up by Chris Woakes to get rid of Ajinkya Rahane. Having been saved by the DRS system earlier against Woakes, Ajinkya Rahane perished him LBW for a duck in 8 deliveries.
The on-field umpire was quick to raise his finger without any hesitation. The Indian skipper also knew about it and therefore he suggested Rahane against the review. Rahane walked back to the pavilion without scoring any runs
Meanwhile, fans on social media went berserk and started trolling the cricketer for his poor performance. There were many who asked for his replacement in the next test match, while others demanded his removal from the ‘vice-captain’ position.
