In a major development, Virat Kohli on Saturday stepped down from the position of Test captaincy of the Indian cricket team. The big announcement came only after a day of India’s 3-match Test defeat against South Africa.

Sharing a long heartfelt post on Twitter, the veteran Indian cricketer expressed how he has “left everything out there” since taking charge seven years ago. In a Twitter post, he said, “Every thing has to come to a halt at some stage and for me as Test captain of India, it’s now. There have been many ups and also some downs along the journey but there has never been lack of effort or lack of belief.”
