This Is The Most Embarrassing Piece Of Stats For England In The Ashes

The England cricket team has come under the scanner of criticism and trolling after their embarrassing performances lately in the ongoing Ashes series. While they are a formidable outfit in white-ball cricket, but some of their performances in the longest format of the game in 2021 have been embarrassing.

After getting dominated by team India in the Test series at home and away, they had an embarrassing outing at Australia in the ongoing 5-match Ashes series, where they have lost back-to-back three matches, losing the series by 3-0. The England side will be playing the rest of the series for their pride.

Recently, a journalist shared a stat on Twitter, that shows just how bad England’s batting has been in 2021. In the 28 innings they have played in Test cricket in 2021, the England cricket team has been bowled out for under 200, 12 times.

Speaking statistically, the latest batting collapse of the England cricket team in Australia follows on from a series of below-average scores in the past year. In fact, England’s batters have averaged very poorly ever since Joe Root was named Test captain in February 2017.

Joe Root has averaged 47.66 ever since he was named as captain. England’s other top-six batters have averaged 30.32. In 2021, the total number of ducks by England batters is 50. In fact, in 2021, 17.2% of innings of England have ended without scoring. 24.80 is the average runs scored by England batters in 2021.

Meanwhile, Australian journalist Dennis Freedman, who is very famous on Twitter for his opinion on cricket, trolled the England cricket team hilariously on their batting average of 2021. Dennis took to Twitter and shared a picture of England bowler Mitchell Starc and trolled England by sharing the most embarrassing piece of the stat. He wrote:

Mitchell Starc has a higher batting average this series than any English player #Ashes”
