The Indian Test skipper, Virat Kohli has made some of the most amazing records in his glorious career so far, especially when it comes to the longest format of the game, Virat has shattered many records. He took the Indian cricket team to the number 1 position with his leadership. However, he has now created a bizarre record in the longest format of the game.

Well, the year 2021 wasn’t an ideal one for the Indian skipper Virat Kohli. From losing the World Test Championship final in England to not even qualifying for the knockout stage of the T20 World Cup, the Indian cricket team suffered some big losses under his leadership.

Virat Kohli Has Created An Unwanted Record In Test Cricket

As a result, Virat Kohli was replaced by Rohit Sharma as the white-ball captain of the Indian cricket team. Also, apart from the team’s performances, Virat’s own batting is in a vulnerable spot. The Indian skipper has been going through a tough phase with the bat. Infact, he hasn’t scored a hundred in more than two years and fans are getting very anxious and waiting desperately for him to score his 71st century.

Meanwhile, the Indian skipper has created a bizarre record as he has been poked outside off stump nine successive times in overseas Tests, the latest one being his dismissal to Lungi Ngidi at Centurion in the series opener against South Africa on September 26.

Here, let’s take a look at each of the nine dismissals:

1. WTC final, Southampton, 2nd innings:

It started with his dismissal in the second innings of the WTC final in Southampton. Kohli was dismissed by a shortish delivery from Kyle Jamieson, that went straight on the sixth or seventh stump line. But Kohli decided to attempt the delivery off the back foot, that eventually landed in the hands of the keeper.

2. 1st Test, Nottingham, 1st innings:

Virat was dismissed in the same manner in the England series opener in Nottingham, this time by the hands of James Anderson. He was out for a golden duck as the ball held its line and was caught behind by keeper Jos Buttler.

3. 2nd Test, Lords, 1st innings:

Another delivery that Kohli could have avoided. Bowler Ollie Robinson angled the ball at a good length on the fifth or sixth stump line. Kohli once again tried to push at the ball, that resulted in Joe Root catching the ball at first slip.

4. 2nd Test, Lords, 2nd innings:

During the 2nd innings at Lords, Sam Curran delivered the ball around at the sixth-stump line. Kohli tried to attempt the ball only to direct the ball towards Jos Buttler, who successfully caught the ball.

5. 3rd Test, Leeds, 1st innings:

In the first innings of the third Leeds Test, James Anderson once again managed to dismiss Virat Kohli in the same manner. The delivery invited Kohli to attempt the big shot and the ball landed into the hands of Jos Buttler, who accepted the edge into his gloves.

6. 3rd Test, Leeds, 2nd innings:

Virat Kohli departed in the same fashion for the second time to Ollie Robinson. The bowler delivered the ball with an inward angle which led Kohli to try the shot. Joe Root didn’t miss the chance at the first slip.

7. 4th Test, Oval, 1st innings:

This time Kohli was trying to do something different but the delivery from Robinson was quite similar as it angled towards the fourth stump. Once again, the ball found its way to the keeper off the leading edge.

8. 4th Test, Oval, 2nd innings:

Unlike the previous seven times, Kohli was dismissed by an off-spin delivery by Moeen Ali. The area of dismissal was similar, on the fifth stump. Kohli tried to defend the delivery but the ball carried to first slip and he had to walk back to the pavilion.

9. 1st Test, Centurion, 1st innings:

This is the latest dismissal of Virat Kohli, that took place during the 1st innings of the opening Test match against South Africa.
