Wasim Jaffer Hilariously Trolled ‘Bazball’ After South Africa Defeat England At Lord’s: Has the ‘Bazball‘ come unstuck? We will find out in the coming weeks. But for now, there was a meme-fest on social media after England were thrashed emphatically by the visiting South African team at Lord’s in the first Test of the 3-Test series.

Dean Elgar’s side registered a big victory at Lord’s by an innings and 12 runs and finished off the game inside only three days. England, who had been on a high of a glorious summer after recording four record run chases against New Zealand and India, were humbled and brought back to the ground by the Proteas.

In the first innings, England were bowled out for 165 in 45 overs, Kagiso Rabada doing the damage with another five-wicket haul, his 12th in his 53-Test career so far. Ollie Pope salvaged something for England with his 73 while no other batter could go past 20.

England were even worse in their second innings: bowled out for 149 inside 37 overs. Alex Lees and Stuart Broad were their highest scorers with 35 – if Broad is your innings highest scorer then you know there is a problem – as the hosts’ batters played some poor shots, while also, the South African speedsters should be commended for sticking to their lines and lengths despite knowing that the batters will play their shots.

Anrich Nortje’s three-wicket burst in the middle of the day was quite spectacular, his celebrations and energy after taking each wicket reminiscing of the great Dale Steyn.

Wasim Jaffer’s amusing dig at ‘Bazball’ and England

In the meantime, former India opener, and a famous social media troller of England, Wasim Jaffer, once again came up with a hilarious tweet.

Wasim Jaffer tweeted: “Bazball has done wonders in the fourth inns”

SA: There will be no fourth inns.

Kagiso Rabada, who now has 250 Test wickets in 53 Tests at a terrific average of 22 and an amongst-the-best bowling strike rate of 40, said it was all about sticking to his processes and doing his best for the Proteas.

“It’s always special to contribute to team success. For us to get over the line at Lord’s, really special. (On Lord’s fifer) To be honest, I didn’t know about those stats. All I want to do is stick to the processes, contribute to the team and let the processes take care of the rest. You always pick up from experiences, bowling on pitches here – they aren’t as quick as back home. It was about adjusting the lines and bowling with the Dukes ball,” Rabada said.

“Glad we could finish this with two days to spare,” Rabada concluded with a smile.

The second Test of the series, which will be played in Manchester, starts on August 25.
