After winning the first two ODIs, India again destroyed the Proteas. As the action moved to Cape Town, India handed a 124 run defeat to the hosts. Twitter is celebrating in joy as India has almost sealed the series.
India cannot lose the series from here, at most the series can end in a draw. India has dominated this series like a boss and once again South Africa faced the brunt of Virat Kohli and his men.
After posting a total of 303, India wrapped up the hosts for just 179. Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav shared 8 wickets between them as they picked 4 wickets each. For the first time, India has defeated South Africa for three consecutive ODIs in South Africa.
34th ODI TON FOR VIRAT KOHLI
It would not be a surprise if dictionaries soon change the definition to Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli has indeed emerged as the best modern-day batsman and we have said this about a million times now.
Today the stalwart batsman got his 34th One Day International Hundred from just his 205th game. This player is a different class altogether.
After winning at Durban and then The Centurion the action moved to Cape Town today. After India was asked to bat first by Aiden Markram, India lost Rohit Sharma without even getting a move on the scorecard. It was then about a beautiful partnership between Shikhar Dhawan and Virat Kohli that got things underway.
BRILLIANT HALF CENTURY BY SHIKHAR DHAWAN
Shikhar Dhawan played a very valuable knock of 76 as he stitched a partnership of 140 with the skipper. After Dhawan’s departure, the wickets of Ajinkya Rahane and Hardik Pandya fell in quick successions. But as wickets tumbled from the other end, Virat Kohli held his ground and smashed yet another ODI century. This is his 34th ODI century and his second in South Africa.
GREAT BOWLING PERFORMANCE BY CHAHAL AND KULDEEP
Once again it was this young duo which picked heaps of wickets. Chahal and Kuldeep picked 4 wickets each and decimated the South African batting line up. These two are sending tremors across the world of cricket and batsmen have now started to fear both these wrist spinners.
TWITTER CELEBRATES THIRD STRAIGHT WIN
Twitter is lauding team India for winning the third ODI. It was a clinical batting performance by Kohli and Dhawan followed by the charm of Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal.
Here are the Twitter reactions:
