As India clashed with their continental neighbours for the first time in a while, the Indian audience wasn’t really happy to see the inclusion of Ishan Kishan in place of an anticipated Sanju Samson.
Sanju Samson has belted out a few decent performances in this year’s IPL that included a boisterous century in the season opener.
The Rajasthan Royals wicket-keeper hasn’t really impressed in the national colours despite rare spasmodic bursts of brilliance. Ishan Kishan had an extraordinary stint in IPL 2020, turning into one of Mumbai Indians’ vital cogs in their title triumph.
The Indian audience was rooting for Samson hoping that this series will eventually be Sanju’s glorious shot at redemption. Despite the fact, the series has just began and Kishan will be under immense pressure to perform consistently as one sloppy showdown can lead to the youngster being benched, the Indian fans wanted to see Samson fire.
The Indian spectators weren’t happy at all about the exclusion of Samson and filled Twitter with a lot of vitriol and hate.
Kishan has shown a decent stint so far behind the stumps with the southpaw impacting the important dismissal of a set Asalanka. Another important factor while selecting the team for day one was that Samson was ruled out with an injury.
At the time of writing, Sri Lanka was stationed at 205 for the loss of 6 with Kuldeep Yadav being the pick of the slew with a brace.
