The world got to view one of the best ODI matches of this year as Sri Lanka nearly snatched victory from what was looking like a likely defeat. Thanks to Akila Dananjaya’s 6-wicket demolition job, Kohli and co. were on the verge of their first defeat in Sri Lanka.

The Lankans however were thwarted by the old finisher, MS Dhoni, who furthered his legacy by playing a sensible innings with the number 9 batsman, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who hit a brilliant half century under pressure to win us the game.

Twitter full of praise:

Twitter, which is always buzzing when a good match is on, was full of praise for the brilliant match. Mohammad Shami tweeted by congratulating team India and Dhoni and Bhuvi in particular. Kaif was all praise for the two too, while Sangakkara praised his countryman Dananjaya for his tremendous performance.

Alex Tudor, the ex-English cricketer was all praise for Bhuvneshwar Kumar while Russell Arnold credited Dhoni for his timely innings while saying the result would hurt Sri Lanka the most.

Harsha Bhogle put forth his thoughts by saying that nobody does calm better than Dhoni while Sehwag congratulated India and Dananjaya’s superb spell in equal measure.

Andrew Fernando and Jayawardene were all praise for the new champ and were disappointed that the team could not finish the game off.

Overall, it was a fantastic match to watch as the players gave it their all. One must not forget Jasprit Bumrah’s 4-wicket haul in the first innings that helped India restrict Sri Lanka below 240 to make it a little easier for them in the end.
