Anil Kumble as head coach?: The last couple of days have seen the Indian cricket team undergoing some major changes. On Thursday, a week after former Indian skipper MS Dhoni was named as the mentor of the Indian cricket team for the T20 World Cup, Virat Kohli announced that he will step down from the position of the T20 captaincy after the tournament. But seems like there could be more in store for the team.
Just days after these big announcements, the BCCI is reportedly eyeing the return of former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble as the head coach of the Indian cricket team after the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021.
Yes, as per some reports making rounds on the internet, the BCCI is all set to approach the former leg-spinner with the offer. Well, the tenure of Ravi Shastri will come to an end after the T20 World Cup 2021 in November and as per reports, Shastri won’t be seeking an extension in his tenure period.
Anil Kumble, the former skipper, was the head coach of the team before he decided to step down in 2017 after the reports emerged of some serious differences between him and Virat Kohli.

If I was at Kumble’s place, I would never come back for this job. It’s not just the Captain, but also 10 more players declared him not fit to be a good coach. Joining this job back, with the help of your friend who is on the top, would be shamelessness. https://t.co/8m3Hus0M8X

Bringing back Kumble to coach India is like forcing a divorced couple into a wedlock again..
I know it’s only a rumour as of now but just wanted to make my point, not that it matters to powers that be.

Just so you guys know, Kumble wanted India to bat first in CT17 but it was Kohli who went against the coach and support staff and decided to bowl first. https://t.co/5cBtj67k1d

Rohit fans twerking for Anil Kumble and have hatred on Ravi Shastri who started his test career just because Kohli and Shastri have good rapport.
Rohit fans are the definition of ungrateful.

Meanwhile, Anil Kumble isn’t the only one in contention for the coveted but high-pressure job. As per a report by The Indian Express, Sri Lankan batting great Mahela Jayawardene, who is also the head coach of Mumbai Indians, was also approached by the Indian board. However, Jayawardene said that he would be more interested in coaching the Sri Lankan team. Besides him, BCCI has also approached VVS Laxman for the job, as per a report by the Times of India.
