CSK Points Table: As Sunrisers Hyderabad prised out their first victory of IPL 2020, Chennai Super Kings slumped down to the rock-bottom of the table, which is a rarity in the glittering history of the tournament. Despite starting the tournament on a victorious note against defending champions, Mumbai Indians, posting a rock-solid performance, their skeleton was exposed to the superiority of Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals.
To add to their woes, they have been failing entirely as a unit with Faf Du Plessis being the solitary glimmer of hope. He has so far strung scores of 58, 72 and 43 with some expressive strokes that underlined his cricketing brilliance.
In the absence of Suresh Raina, their batting devolved into a whirlwind of entropy with their middle-order crumbling down like a house of cards. They did manage to bowl decently in the first game that kept Mumbai in check but what followed thereafter was a catastrophe from their bowlers. They leaked 216 runs to Rajasthan Royals while they gave away 175 to Delhi Capitals.
To cap it all off their captain has had a fiasco so ludicrous that even the staunchest hardliners wanted him axed from the team. Not only has he faltered with the bat but his captaincy has been of questionable stature that has repeatedly experimented with the batting order sans any success.
To add to his deplorable woes, he even got his acumen questioned that was probably an additional edge for MS who was given the nickname of a ‘walking DRS’. He has put ample pretexts to justify the fact that why has his team faltered so badly, however, the fans are not really willing to buy them.
