Twitter Went Berserk After Chris Morris Became The Most Expensive Buy In IPL Auction

Unnati MadanBy Unnati MadanUpdated:09/02/2023No Comments3 Mins Read

South African all-rounder Chris Morris shattered all the records and became the most expensive buy in the history of the Indian Premier League. He was bought by the Rajasthan Royals for a whopping INR 16.25.

Before Chris Morris, Yuvraj Singh was sold at INR 16 crores and was the most expensive buy in the history of the Indian Premier League.

Interestingly, Morris came into the auctions with a base price of Rs. 75 lakh, however, he broke all the bidding records at the IPL auctions as teams went after him. Before Morris, Pat Cummins was the most expensive overseas buy as he was bought by Kolkata Knight Riders ahead of IPL 2020 for INR 15.5 crore.

Talking about Chris Morris, he has played 218 T20s overall and scored 1764 runs at 21 and a strike rate of 151.02. Besides this, he has also picked up 270 wickets at 22.09 and an economy rate of 7.76 runs per over. However, he hasn’t played any international cricket since 2019 but despite this, the franchises showed immense faith in him and went for him in the bidding war. Everntually he was bought by Rajasthan Royals and broke all the records.

Now, for Rajasthan Royals Morris could be a new balling partner to Jofra Archer as Rajasthan now have two players who can hit 90 mph consistently with the new ball and bowl well at the death. It will be interesting to see Morris’ run with Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2021.

Meanwhile, social media was soon flooded with hilarious memes and jokes on this. From cricketers, cricket experts to fans, everyone took to their social media and came up with mixed reactions to Chris Morris shattering all the previous records. There were many who came up with hilarious memes and jokes as well.
