Delhi Capitals had gotten off with a worst possible start as a comical misunderstanding with Prithvi Shaw leads to the run-out of Shikhar Dhawan, one of the most destructive batsmen in their squad.
Shikhar was dismissed by a run-out for a duck in the ongoing game between Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab in Dubai. Shikhar, who was last seen in action during the ODI series against Australia at home in January, returned back on-field after a long time.
Shikhar Dhawan finally returned back to action today and it won’t be wrong to say that his dismissal has not just disappointed his fans but Shikhar himself as well because he couldn’t even open his account before he was asked to walk back to the pavilion.
His dismissal took place on the fourth ball of the over bowled by India’s sensational bowler Mohammed Shami. Shikhar went on for a pull shot off a short ball.
As the ball was on the leg-side, Shikhar couldn’t make good contact with the ball. Initially, it looked like the ball touched his gloves before going behind the stumps to KXIP’s wicketkeeper KL Rahul, who failed to grab the ball.
As KL Rahul couldn’t get hold of the ball, Shikhar though he can steal a single and set for the same. Prithvi Shaw responded too before deciding to change his mind. By the time, Shikhar realized it, he was already in the middle of the pitch, which eventually led to his dismissal.
Moments after Shikhar Dhawan went back to the pavilion, social media was flooded with reactions from the disappointed fans, who started trolling Prithvi Shaw.
