Chasing a huge target of 420 runs on day 5 of the first test match against England in Chennai, India found itself under some deep troubles. After losing an early wicket of Cheteshwar Pujara, India lost the wickets of Shubman Gill, Ajinkya Rahane, Washington Sundar in quick successions.

India resumed the day at 39/1 from overnight, Shubman Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara added 19 runs on the board before Pujara fell for Leach’s trap. Later, the responsibility fell on the shoulders of India’s captain and vice-captain to take the game forward, however, Rahane was trapped by Anderson.

Ajinkya Rahane will miss India’s next two Tests against England after breaking his finger

England bowler James Anderson displayed some tremendous bowling skills as he dismissed India’s experienced campaigner and Test vice-captain, Ajinkya Rahane. Anderson produced a reverse swing to trap the Indian batsman.

The dismissal took place only two deliveries after he dismissed Shubman Gill with a similar reverse-swinging delivery. Though Rahane survived a leg-before appeal on the previous delivery, where umpire’s call saved his wicket. However, Rahane was trapped again with the magical spell of Anderson. Rahane picked the long line and took a big stride to play on the front foot as a result, he was dismissed for a golden duck.

Rahane’s contribution in this match is he didn’t run out Kohli. #INDvENG

My issue with Rahane the captain is Rahane the batsman.
After that 100 in Melbourne his scores are – 27*, 22, 4, 37, 24, 1 & 0. After a 100, class players carry their form & carry the burden of players out of form. #INDvENG

The master James Anderson on work at Chennai – he cleans up Gill and Rahane – how the hell he is doing at the age of 38. Unbelievable.

The expression from the umpire was gold after the dismissal of Rahane.

Rahane really needs to find more good innings than have one burst. Senior pros are expected to have answers to good bowlers and tough times.

This is us right now ?

Anderson has hit the timber behind Rahane too! Two wickets in the over for the veteran, India in dire straits.

Shubman Gill and Rahane both got out due to huge gap between bat & pad
