Twitterati React After Motera Stadium Was Renamed As Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium

Ahead of the much-awaited third and the pink-ball Test match between India and England in Ahmedabad, the Indian fans got the biggest surprise as the Motera Stadium, which is the largest cricket stadium in the world, was renamed as the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium.

The Motera Stadium, which is the venue for the 3rd and the 4th Test match between India and England, was inaugurated by President Ram Nath Kovind.

Coupled with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave & Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, a sports complex will also be built in Naranpura. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was also present at the occasion as the guest of honor. He confirmed the news that the Motera Stadium will be renamed the Narendra Modi Stadium. He also revealed that since PM Modi’s days as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, it was his vision to built the world’s largest cricket stadium in Ahmedabad. He said:

“As CM, he used to say Gujaratis must also progress in 2 fields – sports and armed forces. He took charge of GCA on my request and promoted sports here. His vision was that world’s largest cricket stadium be built here. This 1,32,000-seater stadium will be known as Narendra Modi Stadium,”

He added:

“Coupled with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave & Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera, a sports complex will also be built in Naranpura. These 3 will be equipped to host any international sports event. Ahmedabad to be known as the ‘sports city’ of India,”

Ahead of the first day’s game, Ram Nath Kovind inaugurated the venue and performed bhumi pujan of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Sports Enclave in Ahmedabad’s Motera.
