Umesh Yadav’s Magical Delivery To Joe Root

Umesh Yadav’s stunning delivery: They say that the beauty of a fast bowler lies in the death wobble of a delivery that storms in after landing outside the off-stump.

It becomes a thousand times special when it is used to claim the best batsman in your opposition’s ranks with the same wobble.

That is exactly what Umesh Yadav did to Joe Root yesterday as he managed to rock the ball back in with an impeccable movement that would later go onto kiss timbre for the English captain.

Root seemed well set and was cruising at 21 from 24 balls, threatening to take the game away from India in the way he has done it a few times in the series so far.

That is exactly when Umesh Yadav pulled off one of those rare deliveries that is labelled as perfection for a fast bowler.

Fast bowlers have tried looking for them throughout their life but it is rare, rather a black swan event in case of them trying to notch up that perfection.

A huge moment!

Yadav hared in with his eyes set to trap Root in that death glare and with an uncalled for aggression that the English captain exhibited, the Indian fast bowler knew that it had to be his best delivery.

The ball was pitched a tad bit fuller slightly outside the line of off-stump and seemed toothless in the first glimpse.

However, it was in the latter half of the delivery that Root realised that there was movement and by the time, Root could bring his bat down, the ball has already barreled through his defences and smacked the stumps with a theatrical flourish.

The ball had late swing and that is what ended up befuddling Root. He had no intentions of nicking it and wanted to take his bat away from the delivery, generally in the way things have been. However, that tiny stint of movement left the English captain unglued as Umesh Yadav sent the crowd into a frenzy with the massive scalp of their Test captain.

India will resume things with Dawid Malan and Craig Overton at the helm of affairs on the second day of the fourth Test and will be eager to secure an early wicket or two to cement their dominance.
