‘Leaving the ball alone’ is one of the most toughest skills to learn for a batsman. It requires years of practice and a very solid technique to leave the ball alone successfully, consistently. Over the years, we have seen some of the most technically correct batsmen frustrate bowlers with their ability to leave one good deliveries. To score runs on swinging and seaming conditions, it is very important for batsmen to negotiate the movement by leaving deliveries alone outside the off stump. It reduces the risk of edging the ball to wicketkeeper and slip cordon.

But, when a batsman misjudges a delivery and leaves it alone either on his pad or stumps, it looks very funny, and also embarrassing for the batsman. Over the years, we have also seen batsmen misjudging deliveries and getting dismissed in hilarious ways and it always makes us laugh.
