Dale Steyn thoroughly enjoyed his acting debut in the Hollywood flick Blended, but the speedster has no plans of pursuing a career in acting.

The film is  about a couple (Sandler & Barrymore), who are previously married and have children, being forced to live together after a blind date. About landing the role, Steyn said: “They wanted a professional cricketer to act and a bodyguard, who is also a South African, suggested my name. So, I got a call from them and agreed to fly over to America to be a part of the movie. I was anyway injured after returning from the Champions Trophy in England last year and had a three-week gap. It was a a lot of fun.”

Before the start of the shoot,  Dale Steyn was very nervous about shooting with the big star.

This is what the speedster had to say about his role:

“I was probably more nervous than playing in front a packed cricket ground.

“I had lines I needed to remember and was running through the lines over and over again.

“The whole process started early morning, and by the time I shot my scene it was fine. There were hundreds of people watching me do my thing though. That makes you a little nervous as well.”

And now that he’s got a taste for Hollywood, does he have any future movie plans?

“I’ve got to admit that this was pretty cool to do. I guess I wouldn’t say no to feature in other movies.

“It was an amazing experience and I would enjoy the opportunity if it came my way again,” Steyn said.

Aside from shooting the movie, Steyn said he also took in the sights of Los Angeles, and watched a surfing competition.

“I enjoy surfing, so I stayed at Huntington beach near LA to go and see the US Open Surf competition,” he said.

Injury prevented Steyn from travelling with the Proteas to Sri Lanka, but he hopes to be back in action soon.

“The rest has done my body good. I came away from the Champs Trophy with four injuries – two in the groin, side, and a stiff neck.
