Sourav Ganguly is one of the best captains in the history of the game. His ability to groom young cricketers by giving them confidence makes him one of the greatest Indian captains. When Indian cricket was hit by match-fixing allegations in 2000, it was Sourav Ganguly who led from the front and restored the credibility to Indian cricket by winning the trust and love of the fans.

In the opening match of the 2000 ODI series between India and Zimbabwe, Douglas Marillier shocked the spectators with his innovative shots and won the match for his team. Sourav Ganguly, who is known for his aggressive conduct on the field,  ordered Mbangwa to leave the field until the Zimbabwean obliged. With only 5 runs needed to win, Mbangwa, came onto the field of play carrying drinks and obviously some words of advice from the coaching staff back in the dressing room. Ganguly, who was already staring at an embarrassing defeat, got furious and ordered Mbangwa to go back.
