VIDEO: Chamika Karunaratne’s 4 Teeth Got Broken While Taking A Catch In LPL

Sri Lanka’s star cricketer Chamika Karunaratne suffered a rare injury as he lost multiple front teeth while taking a catch during the match between Kandy Falcons and Galle Gladiators in the ongoing Lanka Premier League in Hambantota. Playing for the Kandy Falcons, Chamika took a catch but that cost him four of his teeth. Yes, you read that right. 

Chamika badly injured himself after the ball hit him in the face while he was attempting to take the catch. Well, the incident took place when Nuwanidu Fernando, who was at the crease, attempted to drive a wide-length ball over the cover of Carlos Brathwaite’s delivery. However, Fernando mistimed the shot and hit the ball straight in the air. Chamike took the catch while running behind from point, however, the ball hit him in the face following which he started bleeding.

Despite severe pain, Chamika completed the catch and passed it on to his teammate. Soon after he suffered the brutal injury, he was taken off the field and sent to the hospital for surgery. It is believed that Chamika lost multiple front teeth after the ball hit directly on his face. The video of the same has gone insanely viral on the internet.

Talking about the game, Falcons successfully chased down the target in 15 overs thanks to some impactful knocks from Pathum Nissanka, Andre Fletcher, and Kamindu Mendis, who was the top run-scorer for his side with 44 off 34 balls. The Falcons won the match by 5 wickets so that should give Chamika some solace in this painful time.
