Hardik Pandya played a brilliant cameo in India’s opening match of ICC Champions Trophy 2017 against arch-rivals Pakistan. After a good performance by India’s top order, Pandya was promoted ahead MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav and he responded in spectacular style by smashing 3 sixes in the last over of the match.
In the last 12 months, Pandya has emerged as a very promising young all-rounder for India. In the pre-match press conference, Kohli made it clear that Hardik Pandya would feature in the playing XI throughout the tournament, irrespective of the conditions.
Pandya impressed one and all with his blistering innings in the warmup match against Bangladesh. It was also his first game in England. Pandya has been working hard on his batting, specially his finishing skills. In an interview before leaving for ICC Champions Trophy 2017, Pandya said that he has been learning the art of finishing from none other than MS Dhoni. Pandya said that he learnt a lot of things about batting under pressure just by watching Dhoni from the other end. He also said that Dhoni has been giving valuable tips about finishing matches.
Pandya batted for 6 balls in the match against Pakistan and smashed 20 runs. He smashed 3 sixes in the last over to give a scintillating end to India’s innings. Watch his cameo here:
