VIDEO: India’s Akshay Karnewar Bowled With Both Hands In The Same Over Against Australia

India’s 24-year-old spinner Akshay Karnewar, surprised one and all when he bowled spin with the both hands in a single over,  playing for the Board President’s XI against the visiting Australian cricket team.

Akshay Karnewar is known for his ability to bowl with both his hands, at the domestic level in India. But, it was bit of a surprise for the Australian batsmen because we haven’t seen too many bowlers pull out such a trick at this level of cricket.

Karnewar started his training as a right hand spinner but his coach forced him to bowl left-handed because there weren’t too many left-arm spinner in Nagpur. The likes of Irfan Pathan and Yusuf Pathan are admirers of his unique skills and they encourage him to keep using it.

Akshay Karnewar has taken 34 and 10 wickets in 17 first-class games and 13 T20s respectively.

Since the introduction of T20 cricket, we have seen many unorthodox things happen on a cricket field.

Coming to Akshay Karnewar, Sportskeeda’s journalist Vignesh posted a couple of pictures and a video on his social networking profiles. We have embedded his tweets and video here:

The likes of AB de Villiers, David Warner and others have revolutionised batting by playing strokes all around the park and in the most unconventional style. Bowlers have also come up with deliveries like ‘pause delivery’ by Ravichandran Ashwin. But, ambidexterity is still very rare. There aren’t too many ambidextrous bowlers around and this is the reason why Akshay Karnewar was trending on social networking websites.
