England’s star batsman Joe Root, who came out to bat after tea on Day 1 of the first Test of the Investec Test series between England and New Zealand at the Lord’s cricket ground, accidentally bumped over the steadicam operator who had got too close to the crease. The cameraman fell down and the entire stadium laughed at the sight of the cameraman falling down and Joe Root feeling embarrassed at the situation.

Joe Root and the cameraman found the funny side of it and they both shared a moment which entertained everyone watching the game at the stadium and also all the television viewers across the world. Joe Root helped the man up before grabbing the camera himself to film a quick cut of the action.
Former England captain Nasser Hussain, who was narrating the incident from the commentary box, found it very amusing he thoroughly enjoyed the sight of cameraman falling on the ground and Joe Root filming him from his camera.
However, this didn’t have any negative impact on his concentration and he batted brilliantly for his 98. Root is arguably the best batsman in England’s Test set-up and his knock was very crucial for England on Day 1 of the first Test match. New Zealand won the toss and elected to ball first on a green top. The Kiwi fast bowlers bowled brilliantly with the new cherry and dismissed top 4 English batsmen very cheaply. But, Joe Root, along with Ben Stokes, anchored the ship and won the day for England in the end. Root, who was recently awarded the ‘Best English batsman’ award, showed great patience and skills and batted with great maturity to bail out England from a very tricky situation.
But, this video of Joe Root bashing into cameraman remains one of the highlights of the day that was full of high level Test cricket.
