Very few people know that Karun Nair batted with a broken bat during his innings in which he scored a triple-hundred in the fifth Test between India and England. Nair, in the first innings of the ongoing fifth Test, scored a triple hundred and became only the second Indian batsman to score a triple-hundred in Test cricket. He also became the first Indian batsman ever to convert his maiden ten hundred into a triple hundred.

Nair scored 303* and he is now no. 3 in the list of highest individual score by Indian batsmen in Test cricket. Nair’s score of 303* is still not enough to beat Sehwag’s two triple hundreds, 309 against Pakistan in 2004 and 319 against South Africa in 2008.

In a video posted on BCCI.TV, Karun Nair can been seen handing over a piece of his broken willow to the umpire and carrying on with the broke bat. Cricketers are usually very superstitious and superstition can be one of the reasons why Karun Nair batted with a broken willow. Watch it here:
