Mohammad Azharuddin is one of the finest Indian batsmen ever. But, unfortunately, he is not known for his batting after what happened in 2000 and a life ban was imposed on him after he found guilty in a match-fixing scandal. Azharuddin was a street smart batsman and he was very elegant and pleasing to the eyes. Many believe that no one could play the flick shot better than him. VVS Laxman, who was the master of flick shot, also says that no one could play it as elegantly as Mohammad Azharuddin.

Azharuddin also had a good sense of humor during his playing days and he shared a very friendly relationship with most his opponents.
