Mohammad Shami gave India just about the breakthrough they were looking for after putting Sri Lanka in to bat. After India declared on the fourth day at 246/5 Sri Lanka was given an early shock by Mohammad Shami.
Shami blowed a ripper of a delivery to get the better of Sri Lankan opener, Samarawickrama. The batsman was left clueless about the fierce bouncer bowled by Shami and he gloved it to gully. Watching Mohammad Shami produce such fierce pace and dangerous bounce on the Kotla pitch was a sheer delight to watch.
As the batsman was caught totally clueless by the nasty bouncer and he tried to duck it. But since the bouncer came too briskly to him he was late to duck on time and ended up gloving it. The ball kissed the glove and went to the gully. Stationed at gully, Ajinkya Rahane made no mistake.
The batsman wasn’t sure if he got a knick and straightaway went for the review. The review however picked up the balk kissing the glove and Samarawickrama had to make the long walk back just at the beginning of the Sri Lankan innings.

Shami has been on the top of his game in this series, he’s been running in hard and generating some serious pace. This looks as a great boost for India’s chances in South Africa as the African pitches would be all about pace and bounce.
A lot would be expected from Shami when India advances for South Africa as he would be leading the pace attack. He’s shown great fitness and pace in this series and we’d only want him to maintain that and give tough times to the likes of Hashim Amla and AB De Villers. Of course the Proteas batsmen aren’t as easy to get as the Sri Lankans but still Shami has what it takes to trouble them.
