Young Australian all-rounder Cameron Green made his IPL debut earlier this year in the IPL 2023 season for the Mumbai Indians.

Speaking with The Grade Cricketer YouTube show ahead of the Australia vs South Africa ODI series, Cameron Green revealed his experience of his first IPL season, including what it was like to witness first-hand the craze of the CSK captain MS Dhoni among his fans, especially in Chennai.

The 41-year-old MS Dhoni got rousing receptions on all grounds he went to during the IPL 2023; even if MS Dhoni was the opposition skipper, he always got the biggest cheer from the crowd that had thronged in big numbers in the stadiums to witness Dhoni and his magic for perhaps one last time (though the CSK captain now seems to be committed to playing next year as well).

MS Dhoni is put on the highest pedestal by his fans who burst their throats out screaming at his entry point when he comes in to bat. The Chepauk crowd turned the decibels up whenever the Ranchi-born took the field and it was pandemonium whenever he would strike a six.

Cameron Green revealed his experience, saying that Dhoni is a god-like figure for his fans.

“MS Dhoni is like a God figure, watching him walk out to bat in Chennai is one of the most ridiculous things to witness.”Green said on The Grade Cricketer.

“He’s got a really nice demeanor about him. He seems like a lovely guy, It’s pretty cool that I was on the field with him.”

Cameron Green had a fantastic debut IPL season as he played a crucial role in the Mumbai Indians reaching the playoffs. He scored 452 runs at an average of 50 and a strike rate of 160 with 2 fifties and one century. He also took 6 wickets with the ball.

As for MS Dhoni, the CSK captain is currently enjoying a holiday in the USA. After returning from the USA, he is likely to hit the nets and resume his rehab from the knee injury he had undergone soon after the IPL.
