India was able to seal the ODI series against the Sri Lankans after winning the third ODI as MS Dhoni and Rohit Sharma played carefully to secure the victory for us.

The two experienced batsmen guided the team past the finish line after another uncertain start from the top order.

Dhoni, who was accused off late of not being able to finish off games, has come back in style in the last two matches, finishing the game off with Bhuvneshwar and now Rohit to prove his credentials as the best finisher of all time.

Time to rest:

However, in the third ODI, India were cruising to victory, needing just 8 runs to win when the crowd got restless and hurled bottles towards the field. This caused a break in play and Dhoni made full use of it.

As the players gathered towards the pitch to avoid getting injured, Dhoni calmly lay on his stomach and took a well-deserved rest. It was a light-hearted moment amongst all the tension and did bring a smile to many of the spectator’s faces.

Dhoni was waiting for proceedings to continue in order to finish the game off and decided a short break was just the right way to calm things down, for both himself and the opposition.

Once play resumed, India hit the remaining 8 runs comfortably to wrap up the series. They had already won the Test series against the same opposition and will be looking to complete the whitewash in the ODIs too, with two more left to play.
