Video: Ness Wadia Opens Up About KL Rahul’s Future with Punjab Kings

India sensational batsman KL Rahul was seen in a red-hot form lately in the just-concluded edition of the Indian Premier League. Though he turned out to be the highest run-scorer for the team, but rumors have it that the cricketer may part ways with the Punjab-based franchise ahead of the next edition of the Indian Premier League.

Under the leadership of KL Rahul, Kings XI Punjab finished sixth on the points table with 6 wins and 8 defeats. He was one of the highest run-scorer in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League as he amassed 626 runs from 13 matches he played for the PBKS franchise in the 14th season of the IPL.

Meanwhile, ahead of the IPL 2022 auctions, PBKS co-owner Ness Wadia recently spoke on Rahul’s future with the franchise. Speaking to NDTV 24×7 during an interview, Wadia claimed that the franchise isn’t just dependent on one player. He added that the team knows how to adjust and adapt to changes over the years. He said:

“There are many players apart from KL Rahul, firstly. One player does not make up a team, I’ve always said that. Having said that, every player has a value and one thing I will say is we’ve learned to adjust and adapt throughout. Any team that hinges too much on one player, that does prove beyond a point a liability”,

As 2 new more teams are joining the Indian Premier League and IPL 2022 will also see a mega-auction before the season, the rumors of KL Rahul leaving the franchise have been making rounds on the internet. Speaking about the same, KL Rahul said:

“I think KL is exemplary in anything and everything he has done. The way he has fought back after going through a lot of issues two years ago – he’s one of the only cricketers who is consistent. But like I said cricket is about 11 team members, not one. As far as the right-to-match or retention (is concerned), whatever happens, we’re ready for it. That’s the IPL – we’ve learned to adjust, adapt and go forward and keep smiling,”
