MS Dhoni played 114 balls and scored just 54 runs in the fourth match of the ongoing ODI series between West Indies and India. It is now the slowest fifty ever by an Indian batsman in ODI cricket. MS Dhoni, who is known for his flamboyant style of batting and helicopter sixes, just couldn’t get going on a two-paced wicket in Antigua.
Chasing a modest total of 191 runs, Indian batsmen, other than Ajinkya Rahane, played very lose strokes and threw wickets at regular intervals. MS Dhoni came in to bat number 5 after the fall of Dinesh Karthik’s wicket, was just not able to score boundaries and this created a lot of pressure in the middle.
As a result, India lost the match and fans blamed Dhoni for playing too slow. Dhoni was India’s second highest scorer of the innings, but still he was blamed for the loss. After the match, when players from both the sides were shaking hands and wishing each other, Dhoni was seen sitting in the dressing room with a very sad face. Mostly, Dhoni keeps a check on his emotions but he was very disappointed with himself and he didn’t even come out of the dressing room when all other Indian cricketers were out in the middle, shaking hands with their counterparts.
