Video: Quinton de Kock Fooled Fakhar Zaman In The Most Clever Way

Pakistan’s middle-order batsman Fakhar Zaman was left heart-broken after he was run-out 7 runs short of a well-deserved maiden ODI double-hundred by Quinton de Kock. His run-out in a thrilling climax to the 2nd ODI match between Pakistan and South Africa has triggered the ‘spirit of cricket’ debate on social media.

Having asked to bat first, the Proteas posted a huge target of 342-runs. Despite the powerful effort from Fakhar Zaman, Pakistan failed to gun down a 342-run target. Zaman didn’t get much support from the rest of Pakistan’s batsmen who couldn’t contribute much on the scoreboard. Apart from Zaman’s 193 runs, skipper Babar Azam’s 31 runs were the next-best score for Pakistan. During his sensational knock of 155-ball 193 runs, Fakhar Zaman smashed 10 sixes and 18 fours.

Pakistan was reeling at 186 runs for 6 in the 34th over but Zaman launched a splendid onslaught and took the visitors close to the finish line. However, Zaman’s valiant effort wasn’t enough for the team to win the game.

The controversial run-out came on the first delivery of the final over after Zaman hit the ball towards the cover boundary. Zaman was trying to complete his second run however he was undone by a direct hit from deep by Aiden Markram.

Fakhar Zaman was positioned comfortably to complete the second run however he mistook the throw to be going to the other end before he saw the stumps disturbed by the direct hit. However, the replays showed that the South Africa wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock tricked Zaman in the most clever way. He made Zaman believe that the throw was going to the non-striker’s end. Well, what happened was while the batsman was still in the process of completing his second run, de Kock raised his hand and signaled towards the non-striker’s end

The video of the same has been going viral on social media. Here, watch the video:
