Ravichandran Ashwin is India’s leader of bowling attack in Test cricket. In Asian conditions, where pitches and weather conditions favour spin bowling, Ravichandran Ashwin is one of the toughest bowlers to face.

Ashwin has many variations up his sleeves and he uses with a lot of accuracy in his line and length. In the last couple of years, Ashwin has picked a lot of wickets for India in Test cricket, and troubled some of the best batters in the world.

However, the biggest criticism that he has to face is- his poor record in overseas conditions.  To improve this record, Ravichandran Ashwin is playing country in England, to learn more about the conditions and adjustments he would have to make when India tours England.

After being rested for the ongoing limited-overs series against Sri Lanka, Ashwin signed up to play county cricket for Worcestershire. Ashwin in an interview to ESPNcricinfo said that it has always been his dream to play county cricket.

“It’s not just about next year. It’s always been a dream to play county cricket,” Ashwin had said in an interview to ESPNCricinfo.

“I grew up watching it on TV in India and it has always meant a lot. Spinners have come before and told me it is a must do experience. I was being rested from a series (against Sri Lanka), so I thought I might as well come here to get experience.”

“I signed up for the cold,” he further added.

In his debut county match, Ashwin troubled Gloucestershire’s batsmen and took 3 wickets. His maiden wicket in County Championship by dismissing Gloucestershire’s wicket-keeper batsman Gareth Roderick in his 10th over with a simple caught and bowled. Watch the video here:
