India’s ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwn picked a yet another five-wicket haul in Test cricket, in the second innings of the second Test of Cricbuzz Cup 2015. Ashwin bowled 16 overs in the second innings and took 5 wickets for 42 runs, including 6 maidens.
With 17 wickets to his name in the first 2 Test matches, Ravichandran Ashwin has been India’s ‘stand-out’ performer in this series. During India’s last tour of Australia (before the World Cup 2015), Ashwin got a lot of criticism for bowling flat and not generating spin and bounce due to his flatter trajectory. But now, he is fighting ball, generating a lot more spin and he is also getting bounce which one would from a spinner of his height.
Retired legend Muralitharan, who is the leading wicket-taker in the history of Test cricket, credited Ashwin for using the rather grassy P. Sara Oval wicket intelligently and said he can take 600-700 wickets if he keeps working hard on his bowling.
