Rohit Sharma Skipped Post-Match Handshakes: Chennai Super Kings defeated Mumbai Indians in the ‘El Clasico’ of the Indian Premier League on Sunday at the Wankhede Stadium. Despite the Hitman’s impressive 61-ball century, he failed to take his team to the winning lines. His century was the only shining thing for Mumbai Indians in the match last night.
Notably, this was Rohit’s second century in the Indian Premier League and also his first 50-plus score in the ongoing 2024 edition of the Indian Premier League. However, his efforts weren’t enough to secure a win for his team.
Rohit Sharma Skips Post-Match Handshakes; Walks Off Disappointed

Chasing a total of 206 runs, Rohit walked out to open the innings for his team. He formed crucial partnerships with Ishan Kishan and Tilak Varma during his knock. Rohit tried to steer his team to victory, however, MI fell short of 20 runs in the end. Rohit fought like a lone wolf for his team. He smashed an unbeaten knock of 105* runs off 63 balls. His knock was laced with 11 fours and 5 sixes. The next highest score in the lineup was of Tilak Varma, who scored 31 runs.
While Rohit initially batted with intent on a good batting surface, he had to slow down as MI lost wickets quickly. He found his rhythm again towards the end, but by then, it was too late for Mumbai Indians.
This was the first instance in 18 occasions where Rohit remained not out till the end, yet Mumbai Indians lost the game. Understandably, Rohit was visibly disappointed and barely celebrated his remarkable century.
After the match, Rohit Sharma was seen walking back to the dressing room with his head bowed down in disappointment. He also ditched the handshake ritual. The video of the same has gone viral on the internet, watch it here:
